Workshop: Jews and Jewry in Medieval Bamberg: New Findings and Insights

On 26th and 27th of February, New Gallia-Germania Judaica hosts a Workshop in Bamberg: "Jews and Jewry in Medieval Bamberg: New Findings and Insights" under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Johannes Heil and Dr. Amélie Sagasser (Heidelberg) in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Susanne Talabardon and Rabbi Dr. Antje Y. Deusel (Bamberg).

For the first time, experts on building research, religious studies, history of art and general history come together to have an interdisciplinary look on the settlemental topography of Jewish Bamberg and to focus on the complex history of the former Marienkapelle from the 15th century. Additional contributions on economical and socio-historical aspects of Jewish Bamberg from the 13th to the 15th century will be provided.
